Burnout and fatigue

Here’s the short version:

The top frustrations I hear every 2nd person talk about are:

  1. The workload keeps increasing with no additional resources
  2. I feel tired all the time… I’m starting to feel anxious
  3. The culture is becoming toxic.

Every 2nd person is craving:

  1. More autonomy at work 
  2. More flexibility around hybrid work and hours at the desk
  3. More fulfillment by having a positive impact; doing something that is meaningful for them
  4. More alignment between their values and their work culture.

Here’s the short cut solution:

  • Take a 2 week break. Return to work and see whether you feel better or feel  like you didn’t have a holiday.  Christmas holidays weren’t long ago: How did you feel after 3 days back at work?
  • If you felt the same as before you left, it’s possible you’re in burnout or, as Adam Grant cleverly coined, ‘bore-out’. Being bored is equally damaging to your physical and mental health.
