The Great Career Reflection
The last 2 years have forced people to really reflect on what’s important to them.
I think a lot of this is driven by our reduced mental bandwidth. We just can’t tolerate the BS that can be part of our working life:
- the unnecessary meetings
- the expectation that you’ll pick up the workload of a colleague who’s resigned, and probably won’t be replaced
- the 3rd restructure
- great colleagues being made redundant
- poor communications during changes
- demands on returning to the office and it needing to look a certain way.
If you are a human adult and want to be treated as such, I say kudos.
If you want more meaning and flexibility, I say YES!
If you’re ready for a change I say hurray! Comment below or message me, as I’m on your team and will cheer you to the finish line.

In the meantime, I have a tip for you for navigating the next phase, whether you’re unhappy or OK in your role.
The silver lining to a surf concussion I had a while ago was: I was forced to work less hours and started asking myself,
“What is essential?”
And the answer is less.
We’ve known for a long time that productivity is not linked to the gross number of hours worked.
And coming out of the stresses of 18 months of lockdowns, there is an invitation to re-shape how we do things.
So, let’s not rush back to the pre-COVID ‘normal’ of over work and endless meetings.
Ask yourself, “What is essential?
And the answer is less. Start saying no.
Start delegating.
And my favourite, start crossing things off your to‑do list and see what happens
