No idea what to do next? Avoid this mistake

When you’re at a career crossroads and have no idea what to do next, it is very tempting to enrol in a course. You feel as though you’re taking action and it’s a distraction from your immediate problem. It also gives you something to talk about, other than work.

I’ve had numerous clients who have been in this situation. They’ve committed to courses and have come out the other side expecting a revelation, only to find they still have no clear idea what to do next.

Don’t get me wrong. Study can be a great thing to do to advance your career, so long as you’re clear about why you’re choosing the course and exactly how it will help you. But if you’re not clear, it’s a huge financial and time commitment that may not deliver a benefit.

So, before you make that commitment get clear on your next role.
