I get so frustrated when I hear my clients’ and others’ stories of their experiences applying for jobs through job search websites and recruiters.
Clients come to me having submitted from 50 - 150 applications and received maybe 2 responses and 1 or 2 interviews. This makes them feel un-employable and powerless.
It can also create unnecessary anxiety.
The recruitment system is broken. It is set up to support employers, not candidates.
There are some good recruiters out there, but the overall system is broken.
Fortunately, there is an alternative!
One of the ways I help my clients get hired with ease is via coffee catch‑ups. I introduce them to their first round of coffee catch‑ups to make it as comfortable as possible. Even my most reserved clients end up loving these, as the emphasis is not on them looking for a job. Rather, it’s on the person they are meeting.
If the contact asks about my client, they share their strengths paragraph. This is a clear and succinct statement, which we craft together, that articulates their unique strengths and the problems they can solve. Did you know that your strengths combination is unique? At least as unique as 1 in 33 million.
